Why Germany Makes it Easy to Exercise as Part of Daily Life
Due to the infrastructure and a few other factors, Germany makes it easy to exercise as part of our daily lives. We get outside and are a lot more physically active and have seen our health improve overall as a family.
How Germany Makes it Easy to Exercise without a Gym
Germany provides walkable cities, towns, and even villages here and makes it an easy exercise in our daily lives, without having to schedule time in a gym. All of us have gotten physically stronger and more fit and we can see how this lifestyle will help us to live longer and be healthier. Most cities, towns, and even small villages are walkable here, with good bicycling and walking paths through the towns. The zoning laws help keep these towns very liveable and friendly to people, instead of just for cars, like in the USA.
In this video, we also show one of our recent hikes to the Langerbauer Alm outside of Ruhpolding, all in the Bavarian Alps. It was gorgeous! We’ve done many hikes with our four kids and we share how the hiking trails are much different here than in the USA. Hope you enjoy it!
Our Story
In February 2021, we packed up our American family of six, with four kids ages 11 and under, and moved halfway across the world to Germany to follow our dream of living in Europe again! When we were first married, we lived for two years in France and fell in love with the European way of life. Moving to Germany has been a whirlwind, especially with four kids in tow, but we’re already growing stronger and better from the experiences we are having. It has NOT been easy, but that’s how it usually is in life when you go after your dreams!
